Storms cause multiple large outdoor events to postpone or cancel their plans

OMAHA, Neb. —

Parts of Nebraska experienced heavy rain and lightning Saturday afternoon, and this caused multiple large events to postpone or cancel their plans.

The Defenders of Freedom Air Show at Offutt Air Force Base has been canceled due to the weather.

According to the air show’s Facebook page, attendees should expect a text message with an update regarding tickets and parking passes.

The MAHA Music Festival at Omaha’s Riverfront was in a weather delay for over an hour.

The festival posted on social media, saying lightning was detected in the area and guests were asked to leave the park to find shelter.

But, the storm has passed, and the festival announced the concert is back on. Gates are open, and music will run from 4 p.m. to midnight.

MECA has cleared Maha Festival’s gates to open at 3:45 p.m. David Nance & Mowed Sound will take the stage about 20 minutes later.

The Pinnacle Bank Championship is also in a weather delay.

Attendees were urged to take shelter and exit the course.
