Task Force One members arrive back in Nebraska

After nearly two weeks in Texas, members of Nebraska’s Task Force One are back home.

The crew spent several days helping people prepare for flooding and making sure everyone had an evacuation plan.

Many who went this time also responded to floods in Texas last year.

They said that repeat visits like this help build connections among the team and with the people they help.

“I believe that it was an emotional attachment of helping the locals, knowing what could possibly happen, and wanting to make sure that they’re prepared. They took great care of us; the hospitality was amazing. The emergency management was amazing. And yes, I think that there’s definitely an emotional attachment to that,” Ashley Engler, Task Force One Program Manager, said.

That task force included people with several local fire departments including Lincoln, Omaha, Papillion, and Council Bluffs.
