The CHI Health Omaha Convention Center expansion enters final year of construction
City leaders say the additional space will attract bigger conventions and attractions to Omaha
OMAHA, Neb. —
The CHI Health Center Omaha Convention Center expansion has officially entered its final year of construction.
The Director of Communications for MECA, Grace Stafford, sat down with KETV’s Jaylon Banks to discuss the milestone.

“18 months in, 12 to go, it’s a really exciting time,” Said Stafford.
She said one of the biggest changes you can see right now is the two-story glass structure, the main part of the new construction, which is visible from Riverfront Drive.
Stafford says right now floor slabs are being poured, 25 new meeting rooms are being framed, and metal paneling will begin shortly on the north end of the expansion.
“It makes us more competitive with our similar-sized markets,” said Grace Stafford.
“Adding those new meeting rooms can bring in bigger conventions,” she added.
