The largest Powerball jackpot of the year draws Saturday night; See which numbers are picked the most
Data Researcher/Curator
WASHINGTON —
The drawing for the largest Powerball jackpot of the year is set for Saturday night. If a player matches all six numbers, they will have the option of taking the $600 million prize as an annuity or a one-time cash payment of $262.8 million.
Players have to correctly match the five white ball numbers, which range from 1 to 69, and the red Powerball number, from 1 to 26. The lottery game is straightforward, but the odds of matching all six numbers are 1 in 292,201,338.

But there have been some numbers drawn more than others since Powerball increased its white ball pool from 59 to 69 and reduced its Powerball pool from 35 to 26 in 2015.
The Get the Facts Data Team analyzed which numbers have been drawn the most since the change.
What numbers have been drawn more for Powerball?
The most commonly drawn numbers for the white balls are 21 and 61, drawn 123 times each as of July 24, 2026. Just behind was 61, drawn 123 times since Oct. 7, 2015.
For the red Powerball, 4 and 14 tied as the most frequently picked at 65 times.
The numbers 13, 26 and 49 have been picked the fewest times among the white balls. For the red Powerball ball, 16, 17 and 7 are the three least commonly drawn.
The Powerball jackpot continues to grow when drawings do not have a winner. Last year, the jackpot reached a whopping $1.8 billion, the second-largest Powerball jackpot in history. It took 47 consecutive drawings to grow the jackpot to that amount.
Wednesday night’s drawing was the first time in which players in the United Kingdom could participate. While the odds of winning remain the same for players in the U.S. and U.K., adding more players increases the size of the jackpot since it comes from ticket sales.
Powerball offers eight possible ways of winning a prize. Powerball drawings are every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. EDT.
