Toddler recognized as world’s most premature baby celebrates second birthday

ANKENY, Iowa —

An Iowa toddler who made history as the world’s most premature surviving baby is celebrating another major milestone.

Nash Keen of Ankeny turned 2 years old on July 5, marking another remarkable chapter in a journey that has inspired people around the world.

Born at University of Iowa Health Care in Iowa City at just 21 weeks gestation, Nash weighed only 10 ounces at birth. After spending months in the neonatal intensive care unit, he was recognized by Guinness World Records in 2025 as the world’s most premature surviving baby.

Today, Nash is thriving. In a recent update shared by Guinness World Records, his parents said, “You would never guess he was born more than 100 days early.”

Nash’s family has continued to celebrate his progress, calling each milestone a testament to the care he received and his determination to beat the odds.
