THAT BRINGS THE TOTAL NUMBER OF PASSENGERS NOW IN THE QUARANTINE UNIT TO 18. KETV NEWSWATCH 7 AARON HEGARTY IS IN THE NEWSROOM WITH THE LATEST AARON. PASSENGERS FROM THE MD HAD BEEN AT ATLANTA’S EMORY UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL. ONE OF THEM WAS SYMPTOMATIC AND THE OTHER HAD CLOSE CONTACT WITH THEM. BOTH OF THEM HAVE NOW BEEN MEDICALLY CLEARED, SO THEY WERE MOVED TO THE NATIONAL QUARANTINE UNIT AT UNMC. DAVIS GLOBAL CENTER NEBRASKA MEDICINE SAYS IT’S BETTER SUITED THAN ATLANTA FOR LONG TERM MONITORING. DURING THIS PRECAUTIONARY WAITING PERIOD. NEBRASKA HAS THE ONLY FEDERALLY FUNDED QUARANTINE UNIT IN THE COUNTRY. EARLIER THIS WEEK, A PASSENGER WHO WAS ORIGINALLY IN THE NEBRASKA BIOCONTAINMENT UNIT WAS CLEARED AND MOVED TO THE QUARANTINE UNIT AS WELL. THE TWO WHO ARRIVED TODAY ORIGINALLY WERE PUT IN ATLANTA BECAUSE THE NEBRASKA BIOCONTAINMENT UNIT WAS ALREADY ACTIVATED. EARLY ON WE WENT. WHEN THEY ARRIVED THERE, WE WENT INTO THE ROOMS FULL PPE ON AND MAKING SURE THAT THEY, YOU KNOW, CHECKING THEIR MEDICAL HISTORIES, LOOKING FOR THE MEDICATIONS THEY MAY TAKE EVERY DAY. THESE ARE THESE ARE PEOPLE THAT ARE GOING TO BE HERE FOR A WHILE. SO THERE ARE OTHER THAN JUST ACUTE MEDICAL PROBLEMS, THEY’RE GOING TO HAVE OTHER LONG TERM THINGS WE HAVE TO MANAGE AS WELL.
