Two arrested in Mississippi triple homicide that left toddler dead
Weekend Anchor/Reporter
JACKSON, Miss. —
Police in Mississippi have arrested two suspects in connection with a triple homicide that claimed the lives of two women and a 2-year-old child over the weekend, calling the killings a targeted attack that intentionally included the child.
Cornelius Carter, 28, and Jordan Carter, 26, were taken into custody after officers attempted a traffic stop involving a vehicle connected to the investigation, leading officers on a pursuit before both men were arrested. The two are not related.

Cornelius Carter has been charged with capital murder. Police said he is a convicted felon. Authorities said the capital murder charge reflects investigators’ belief that the killings were intentional and included the death of a child. Jordan Carter is also facing a capital murder charge.
Police responded Saturday night to a 911 call reporting an aggravated assault at a home in a residential neighborhood less than 10 miles northwest of downtown Jackson.
“What they found instead was something horrifying,” Jackson Police Chief RaShall Brackney said at a news conference Sunday morning.
Inside, they discovered two women, 30-year-old Erica Weathersby and her 25-year-old sister Keyana Weathersby, and Keyana’s 2-year-old son, Camari Givens, had been shot multiple times.
“This is a heinous crime,” Brackney said, calling the person responsible “an absolute coward” and “the vilest of human beings.”
Jackson Mayor John Horhn issued a statement tonight following the arrests.
“I commend Chief Brackney and the men and women of the Jackson Police Department for their work in identifying and apprehending suspects in this brutal crime,” Horhn said. “We will continue working every day to ensure that everyone responsible is brought to justice. This effort will continue.”
