Forbes and his campaign team did not respond to KETV’s requests for an interview.

Burbank said she is campaigning for all voters, not just Democrats.

“If not me, who else is going to do it? Because we do need to get the wave changed. We need to bring the left and the right and bring them together,” Burbank said.

Burbank told KETV her priorities as Nebraska’s senator would include passing term limits for congressional members and banning congressional stock trading.

“It is necessary to have term limits because then you get fresh ideas in there and people aren’t laying in their groove and you get new, new people doing new things and new ideas,” Burbank said.

She believes a unified candidate to challenge the Republican candidate in the general election is needed. She said if independent candidate Dan Osborn is polling significantly higher, she would consider dropping out to unify the votes.

“I do not take it lightly, nor will I steal anybody else’s votes and throw them away by staying in the race,” Burbank said.

KETV previously reported that William Forbes denied claims that he is running to help Ricketts. The Nebraska Democratic Party is denouncing his campaign.
