UNO’s Outlook Explorers Camp teaches archery to the blind, visually impaired
OMAHA, Neb. —
For many kids, summer camp is all about trying something new.
At UNO this week, blind and visually impaired campers learned archery through adaptive techniques designed to build confidence and independence.

Every activity is designed to help campers challenge themselves in a safe, supportive environment.
“For some of them, it’s the first time they’ve been away from home for a week. And so, they are learning to be on their own and be supported by someone different. It’s a unique and growing experience for them. All the activities that we, do, for the most part, are things that they might do in their schools,” said sports specialist Glen Wragge.
The six-day Outlook Explorers Camp gave children a chance to experience adaptive sports and make new friends.
