City of Valley under boil water advisory after ‘failure in the controls’ at water treatment plant

VALLEY, Neb. —

The city of Valley’s water services were interrupted on Saturday morning.

According to the city’s website, it was caused by “failure in the controls,” which can pose an “imminent and substantial health endangerment” to those who consume the water.

Because of this, a boil notice has gone into effect.

This means residents will need to boil water for at least three minutes and let it cool or use bottled water for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice.

The state requires two rounds of samples 24 hours apart with negative results for bacteria before the boil water advisory can be lifted. This means Tuesday is the earliest the advisory can be lifted.
