‘Very difficult scene’: Omaha Crime Stoppers increases reward to $35K for tips in homicide case
According to police, the Jamise Thompson homicide investigation is a difficult one to piece together and they need the public’s help
OMAHA, Neb. —
The death of a 28-year-old mother of three is driving Omaha Crime Stoppers to increase their standard homicide tip reward.
Information leading to an arrest in the Jamise Thompson homicide is now worth up to $35,000.

“That $35,000, if you look at it this way, it’s our emphasis of how important this is to our community, that this cannot be tolerated,” said Police Chief Todd Schmaderer.

Information leading to a typical homicide arrest is worth $25,000.
Thompson was killed just after 3 a.m. on Saturday, June 20. According to police, as many as 300 people were gathered in the area of 24th and Lake at the time.
Nicole Thompson, Jamise’s mother, told KETV: “Jamise was our everything to me and her father, first child, our best friend. She was the oldest sibling on both mom and dad side and due to gun violence they left her family so broken. She was a phenomenal mother, daughter, big sister, and aunty.”
A 16-year-old was also hit by gunfire, but has since been released from the hospital.
Investigators are still trying to piece together the scene and the moments leading up to the gunfire. They’re hoping photos or video evidence from the public can help them solve the crime.
“You might think it’s insignificant, but if you were there and you have any context of that night, we’d like for you to contact us,” Schmaderer said.
According to homicide investigator Lt. Nicholas Andrews, of the roughly 300 people at the scene prior to the shooting, only one witness stayed behind.
“We understand it was a dangerous scene there, and we know why people left to flee the violence, and that’s understandable,” said Andrews. “But what we’re asking for now is the public’s help.”
According to Schmaderer, over 70 shots were fired from multiple weapons. They do not believe Thompson was the target.
“She was an innocent bystander who was killed at an after-hours party that did not originate as a criminal crowd,” Schmaderer said.
The Omaha Police homicide clearance rate is 100% over the last three years. Of the eight homicides in 2026, this is the only one without an arrest.
“We have a lot of detectives working on this, and they’re very skilled,” Schmaderer said. “So I’m telling you, I want the public to be very assured that they’re working diligently on this case left and right.”
