Nebraska City man arrested after assault leaves victim critically injured
NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. —
A 22-year-old Nebraska City man was arrested Monday after a physical disturbance left a 59-year-old man with life-threatening injuries, according to the Nebraska City Police Department.
Officers were dispatched to a residence near 16th Street and 2nd Avenue. Upon arrival, they found the 59-year-old victim suffering from multiple lacerations. He was transported to a trauma center by medical helicopter.

Police said the suspect had left the scene before officers arrived. Officers later located Zachariah Pierson, who was taken into custody and booked into the Otoe County Jail.
Pierson was booked on charges of first-degree assault and use of a deadly weapon, both Class 2 felonies.
The investigation remains ongoing.
