VIDEO: Bystanders rush to help man with walker after he was attacked

TUCSON, Ariz. —

Video captured a man with a walker being attacked at an Arizona fast-food restaurant last month before two bystanders stepped in to chase the suspect away.

It appeared that the attacker was trying to steal the man’s backpack from his walker.

The Tucson Police Department posted video of the July 9 incident on social media Tuesday, thanking those who intervened.

“This incident highlights how community members and officers work together to help keep Tucson safe,” police said in the post. “Thank you to the witnesses who provided information that helped officers quickly locate the suspect.”

Police said the 70-year-old man, who was shown being pushed to the floor along with his walker, was treated for injuries at the scene.

The 34-year-old suspect, who police did not identify, was booked on an attempted robbery charge.
