A couple who have been married for 80 years still keep a weekly Friday breakfast date at a McDonald’s in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

The Carrolls, John and Jerry, are both centenarians and say the tradition has endured for decades, WTVF reported.

John Carroll, a 101-year-old World War II veteran, said the couple eats breakfast together every Friday morning with friends, and his order never changes.

“For breakfast, we usually eat the Egg McMuffin with sausage,” John said. But to make the breakfast favorite a little special, they have a slice of tomato added to their sandwiches.

Jerry Carroll said she celebrated her 100th birthday last Sunday.

And she said they also recently marked another milestone: The couple marked their 80th anniversary on April 18. That means they’ve been married longer than McDonald’s has been serving breakfast.

Reflecting on their long marriage, John said the two have stayed together through ups and downs by treating each other well and working hard.

“Treat your wife nice and, and, uh, try to, try to help her all you can and and work hard. That’s all we’ve had our ups and downs over the years, but we still made it,” he said.

At the restaurant, the staff loves the Carrolls.

“We just love them. They’ve been here for a long time,” Christina Crisp, the store’s general manager, said.
