Video shared by an Ohio sheriff’s office shows first responders helping an injured bald eagle on the side of the road.

Deputies with the Butler County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a large injured bird in the roadway near U.S. 127 and Oxford Middletown Road in Milford Township, which is around 43 miles outside of Cincinnati, Ohio.

In an update on Tuesday evening, the sheriff’s office said the bird has an injury to its left foot but is able to stand and is otherwise healthy.

“The American Bald Eagle is more than just a protected species—it’s a symbol of the strength, freedom, and spirit of our nation. We’re grateful to our deputies and to Raptor Incorporated for helping ensure this national treasure gets a second chance,” the Butler County Sheriff’s Office said.
