Two troopers narrowly avoided injury when lightning struck right next to them south of Rapid City, South Dakota, during a manhunt.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol shared on social media and said the incident happened as the troopers were working the manhunt when the storm arrived.

In the video, the two troopers, whose names have not been released, can be seen standing near their patrol vehicles and can be heard seemingly discussing the description of what a person was wearing. That’s when lightning can be seen striking right next to where the troopers were standing.

“Search was on foot, storm rolling in, and then BOOM — strike right next to them,” SDHP said in the post.

Neither of the troopers was injured, according to the post on the department’s Facebook page.

The department didn’t give more details about the manhunt as of Wednesday evening.
