Video shows teen lifeguard rescuing young child from rough surf at California beach

Video captured the heroic rescue of a child by a teenage lifeguard at a California beach over the weekend.
Scott Vander Dussen, who recorded the video, told KNTV that the 10-year-old boy was struggling in the water as waves repeatedly crashed over him.

A 16-year-old lifeguard sprang into action, rushing toward the boy and attempting to pull him back to shore.
Other beachgoers arrived and helped the lifeguard and child out of the ocean.
Vander Dussen said paramedics evaluated the boy before releasing him to his parents.
