Food insecurity is still affecting children and families across Nebraska. Voices for Children in Nebraska released its 2025 Kids Count in Nebraska Report during events in Lincoln and Omaha.Summer Juul, executive director of Voices for Children in Nebraska, discussed the annual report and what it shows about the well-being of children across the state.Juul said the report is meant to ground decisions in strong information and give a clearer picture of how systems are serving children and families.”We think you need to know where you are in order to know where you need to go,” Juul said.The annual report includes data on population, health, education, economic stability, child welfare and juvenile justice. This year’s report also includes a special commentary on child food insecurity in Nebraska.Juul said Nebraska has many strengths, but the state still has work to do.
