Video: Dog that had been missing for more than 30 days is rescued from storm drain

A dog that had been missing for more than a month was rescued from a California storm drain earlier this week and reunited with her family.
According to a news release from San Diego County Animal Services, officers found a dog trapped in a storm drain and used treats to coax her out to street level.

After taking the dog to a nearby animal shelter, she was cleaned, fed, vaccinated and checked for a microchip.
“Shelter staff said she appeared underweight, very hungry and had a dirty coat, suggesting she may have been lost for some time,” the release said.
Later that day, a woman came to the shelter in search of her dog, Teddy, who had been missing for more than 30 days.
“She said her family had been searching extensively — posting flyers, driving the neighborhood daily and working with local dog rescuers,” the release said.
Shelter staff confirmed that the rescued dog was Teddy, but her reaction to seeing her family again also provided confirmation.
“While Teddy was initially withdrawn, she became alert the moment she saw her owner, wagging her tail and howling with joy,” the release says.
