WELL, IT’S BEEN 24 HOURS SINCE SEVERE STORMS SPUN UP FOUR TORNADOES IN IOWA. TONIGHT, WE’RE LOOKING AT THE DAMAGE AND THE RESPONSE. WE AREN’T THE ONLY ONES CLEANING UP. THE DAMAGE STRETCHES ALL THE WAY DOWN TO MISSOURI AND OKLAHOMA. AND TONIGHT WE HAVE TEAM COVERAGE FROM THOSE AREAS. BUT FIRST, KETV NEWSWATCH SEVEN’S MADISON PERALEZ WAS IN LITTLE SIOUX, IOWA, ABOUT 45 MINUTES NORTH OF OMAHA. SHE CAUGHT UP WITH RESIDENTS. THURSDAY. WE WERE LOOKING AT THE DAMAGE AFTER THE STORM, AND AS YOU CAN SEE BEHIND ME, THE TRAILERS THAT WE SHOWED YOU ARE STILL BLOWN OVER. BUT WE’RE GOING TO WALK OVER THIS WAY TO SHOW YOU WHAT THE MAJORITY OF THIS FRIDAY WORK HAS BEEN. THIS WHOLE CREEK AREA WAS LITTERED WITH DEBRIS, BUT CLEANUP CREWS WERE ON IT, CLEARING IT OUT. WORKERS AT DAVE PHOENIX PROPERTY IN LITTLE SIOUX, IOWA, GOT A CALL FRIDAY MORNING ABOUT TORNADO DAMAGE. WE’RE GOING TO BE ON A LONGER HOURS, AND IT’S GOING TO BE A LOT OF WORK TO BE DONE OVER THE WEEKEND TO SURPRISE DOZENS OF NEIGHBORS AND FRIENDS OFFERED HELPING HANDS. FRANKLY, I WAS REALLY TOUCHED BY THAT. SO WE’RE WE’RE GOING TO BE JUST FINE. THE HARRISON COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SAYS THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WAS SURVEYING THE DAMAGE FRIDAY. IT FOUND NO ONE WAS HURT AND THAT THE DAMAGE WAS ISOLATED TO TWO FARMSTEADS, INCLUDING THIS ONE. TORNADO DEBRIS REMAINS WERE THROWN, TRAILERS AND BARRELS, A BARN KNOCKED DOWN AND CATTLE THAT DIDN’T SURVIVE. YOU HATE SEEING THINGS LIKE THAT FROM A HUMAN STANDPOINT, THOUGH, NO ONE WAS HURT. ONE LITTLE FARM ROAMER TRIPPER MADE IT THROUGH THE TREACHEROUS STORM UNHARMED BECAUSE IT TRIPS EVERYBODY. IT’S ALWAYS. IT WON’T LEAVE YOU ALONE. ALTHOUGH REINEKE SAYS THE HEAVY EQUIPMENT GETTING MOVED AROUND WAS A SHOCK. EVERYTHING ELSE IS LIGHT WORK. IT’S NOT BEEN TOO BAD. IT’S JUST A LOT OF TRASH. IT COULD HAVE BEEN A LOT WORSE. I’M HOPING TO GET BACK TO GETTING THE SEED IN THE GROUND SO THAT WE CAN MAKE SOME MONEY. RYAN THANKED EVERYONE WHO PITCHED IN TO HELP. THE POWER COMPANY HAS BEEN HERE SINCE YESTERDAY. THEY WORKED THROUGH THE NIGHT. THEY’RE STILL HERE. SAYS WITH ALL THE EXTRA HELP, THE CLEANUP HAPPENED FASTER THAN HE EXPECTED AND HE ANTICIPATES THE MAJORITY OF THE WORK FINISHING UP
