West Lake Okoboji boat crash kills 1, injures 5
One person was killed and five others were injured in a boat crash Sunday afternoon on West Lake Okoboji.
It happened around 1 p.m. Sunday, according to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, which said two boats collided near Pillsbury Point. One person was killed and five others in the same boat were injured.

“Three with serious injuries and two with minor injuries were transported to Lakes Regional Hospital and Spencer Hospital,” the Iowa DNR said in a news release. “All were wearing personal flotation devices.”
No injuries were reported from passengers in the second boat, according to the DNR.
An investigation into how the crash happened is ongoing, authorities said, but alcohol has been eliminated as a contributing factor.
