Omaha police said the crash happened just after 11:30 p.m. Investigators said the 16-year-old boy was driving a 2026 Polaris ATV northbound on Florence Boulevard when he entered the intersection of Locust Street and was struck by a 42-year-old female driving a sedan eastbound.

Officers said the boy was thrown from the ATV and that he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Omaha Fire Department medics rushed the 16-year-old to the hospital with CPR in progress, but he died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

When the Omaha Police Officer’s Association’s vice president Dan Martin heard the news, he said he was devastated because he knew the teen for several years.

“I hope he, knows how much he meant to me and our organization and that we did care about him,” Martin said. “From when he was 11 to 16—you’re a completely different person, right—but he still had that heart, you can tell he cares a lot about other people, which for somebody that 16, it’s hard to see, but you could see that through him. He carried a lot of empathy.”

Police said the 42-year-old female driver and the passenger in the sedan were not injured.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact Omaha Crime Stoppers anonymously at (402) 444-STOP, at or on the P3 Tips mobile app.
