FROM CONGRESSIONAL RACES TO COUNTY LEVEL SEATS, THE FIELD IS NARROWING IN NEBRASKA AS UNOFFICIAL PRIMARY RESULTS COME IN. OMAHA’S NEWS LEADER HAS ALL THE RACES YOU NEED TO KNOW ON KETV.COM. IT’S ALSO SCROLLING AT THE BOTTOM OF YOUR SCREEN. KETV NEWSWATCH SEVEN’S JOHN GREENWALD IS LOOKING AT SOME OF THE STATEWIDE RACES, INCLUDING A HEATED REPUBLICAN PRIMARY FOR SECRETARY OF STATE JOHN BILL. JULIE. THE GULF HAS BEEN WIDENING WITH EACH BATCH OF RESULTS BETWEEN NEBRASKA SECRETARY OF STATE BOB EVANS AND THE CHALLENGER. HE CURRENTLY TRAILS OMAHA BUSINESSMAN SCOTT PETERSON. THE RACE IS SHAPING UP TO BE A REFERENDUM ON REPUBLICAN VOTER TRUST IN ELECTIONS. PETERSON IS DECISIVELY PULLING AHEAD, AND HE SAYS HE FEELS CONFIDENT AS THEY HEAD LATER INTO THE NIGHT. ON THE ONE SIDE, YOU HAVE SECRETARY OF STATE BOB EVANS, WHO HAS HELD THE OFFICE SINCE 2018, NOW RUNNING FOR HIS THIRD TERM, HE SAYS NEBRASKA NEBRASKA ELECTIONS ARE THE GOLD STANDARD FOR INTEGRITY AND SECURITY. BUT HIS OPPONENT, OMAHA BUSINESSMAN SCOTT PETERSON, SAYS EVANS ISN’T DOING A GOOD ENOUGH JOB TO SECURE NEBRASKA’S ELECTIONS. EVANS HAS STRESSED THAT EVERY BALLOT TABULATOR IN THE STATE IS TESTED THREE TIMES A MONTH BEFORE EVERY ELECTION. BUT PETERSON HAS EXPRESSED WORRIES ABOUT BALLOT COUNTING MACHINES BEING HACKED AND CALLED FOR GREATER RESTRICTIONS ON VOTING BY MAIL. EVANS SAYS HE’LL BE IN TOUCH WITH KETV LATER TONIGHT, AND WE SPOKE WITH PETERSON JUST MOMENTS AGO. WHEN I RAN, I RAN ON CONFIDENCE. PEOPLE ARE LOSING CONFIDENCE IN OUR ELECTIONS AND THAT’S A PROBLEM. AND IT’S NOT JUST NEBRASKA. IT’S NATIONWIDE. THERE’S ALSO A RACE IN DISTRICT 12 WHERE SENATOR MERV RIEPE, A REGISTERED REPUBLICAN, FACED OFF AGAINST A SLATE OF CHALLENGERS WHO ARE ALL REGISTERED DEMOCRATS. RIEPE AND KRISTI. NOR ARE THE TWO THAT ADVANCED TO THE GENERAL. OF COURSE, THE LEGISLATIVE BODY IS OFFICIALLY NONPARTISAN, BUT RIGHT NOW, REPUBLICANS HAVE A SLIGHT FILIBUSTER PROOF MAJORITY, SO CHANGES HERE COULD TIP THAT BALANCE. AND FORMER VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS WON THAT DISTRICT BY TWO POINTS IN 2024. THERE’S ANOTHER HEATED RACE IN DISTRICT 18 AFTER SENATOR KRISTI ARMENDARIZ DECLINED TO SEEK REELECTION. JESS GULDEN IS A REGISTERED DEMOCRAT. SHE ADVANCED TO THE GENERAL WITH TAYLOR. ROYAL DEMOCRATS ARE SEEING THIS SEAT AS A POSSIBLE FLIP. THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER COSTLY AND HEATED LEGISLATIVE RACES WILL BE MONIT
