The Bellevue mayor asked residents to do better after some park bathrooms were trashed.Mayor Rusty Hike said he’s very disappointed after the city’s facility maintenance department temporarily closed the bathrooms at Washington Park through at least the weekend due to the continued vandalism and graffiti. The restrooms at the park near 20th and Franklin streets were hit again Sunday night, causing about $10,000 in damage. Officials said they are planning to put cameras in place.City crews will be working throughout the week to repair and replace what was damaged.”These are $400,000 bathrooms so when you start getting all the fixtures and stuff like that. We want to make sure people can use it. Now we have toilet paper dispensers, the mirrors have been broken, the baby changing things have been broken, so those are all things that will have to be taken out now,” Phil Davidson, Bellevue community relations director, said.The bathrooms should open back up later this week.No arrests have been made, but officials said the suspects would face criminal mischief charges.
