Commission accepts evidence into record in Douglas County Sheriff’s Office’s firing of deputy
The Douglas County Merit Commission has accepted evidence into the record for the termination of a deputy Tuesday morning.
OMAHA, Neb. —
According to court documents, a former Douglas County sheriff’s deputy is accused of using AI to make nude photos of coworkers and juveniles.
Deputy Nolan Dudik was fired from his role with Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in May, and he is now appealing that decision, claiming he was wrongfully terminated.

From those appeal documents, we now know the internal affairs investigation into Dudik started in December 2025 after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a cyber tip.
That tip alleged numerous images of potential sexual abuse materials were linked to an iCloud account registered to Dudik’s personal cell phone number.
Public documents revealed new allegations against the former Douglas County deputy and school resource officer after a several-month-long internal affairs investigation.
“We value protecting the public as much as we do holding our staff accountable. If we believe they engaged behavior, which goes contrary to their oath. And that’s what we’re going to continue to do,” said Sheriff Aaron Hanson.
The investigation found Dudik violated policy numerous times, according to appeal documents made public on Tuesday.
The documents alleged he tried to buy alcohol while on duty and in uniform and was “heavily intoxicated” during duty hours.
Dudik is also accused of having and viewing child sexual abuse materials on his cell phone.
The appeal documents also cited a recorded 911 phone call of a potential mental health crisis, where Dudik threatened to “kill any law enforcement officer that arrived at his residence in response to the ongoing disturbance at the time.”
Dudik was fired on May 5.
“We believe that we have sufficient evidence to believe that this deputy in this case should’ve been terminated in his employment,” Hanson said.
Since the conclusion of that investigation, the sheriff’s office was alerted by Nebraska State Patrol of more allegations against Dudik.
According to the appeal documents, Dudik is accused of taking photos of on-duty coworkers and juvenile female members of the sheriff’s office’s Explorer Program and manipulating them with AI to make nude images.
Hanson said a criminal investigation is ongoing.
“Even the sheriff’s office, even myself, I don’t have all the details. That’s a sealed investigation that’s occurring between the state patrol, the FBI, and the United States attorney’s office,” Hanson said.
The Merit Commission will set a hearing date for sometime in the fall for Dudik’s appeal.
No criminal charges have been filed against Dudik at this time.
The sheriff said even if it’s a law enforcement officer or public figure, if you see something, say something.
Omaha’s News Leader also reached back out to Omaha Public Schools. Dudik was a school resource officer at Westview High School. The district re-emphasized their statement made back in May when Dudik was first fired.
“Our top priority is always the safety and well-being of the students we serve. We take our high standards and expectations for staff conduct, including our contracted partners, most seriously,” Westview High School Principal Thomas Lee said in a letter to families back in May.
