Creighton soccer teams host abilities camp for children with special needs

OMAHA, Neb. —

Creighton University’s men’s and women’s soccer teams joined forces with Creighton physical therapy students to host the second annual abilities soccer camp at Morrison Stadium, offering children with special needs a chance to develop soccer skills and connect with players.

The camp welcomed 40 children, ages 6 to 13, who practiced agility and other skills while interacting with some of the top Bluejay soccer stars.

This year marked the first time the event included jerseys and sponsorships, reflecting its continued growth and providing another opportunity for players to engage beyond their roles as student-athletes.

“I feel like, obviously, like we’re soccer players and everything, but I don’t think we’re just that. I think that we can give so much more to the community. We already have such a big team, and like, giving back to people is something I feel like Creighton not only as a soccer program we emphasize, but also as like a whole community. Being able to implement the PT school and the sports, it’s just a really unique thing,” said Clara Kulick.

The women’s soccer team will open its season at Colorado College on Aug. 12, while the men’s team will host Florida International on Aug. 20 to begin their season.
