The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office fired a deputy for violating its policy.Officials said the sheriff’s office learned of a law enforcement investigation into 23-year-old Nolan Dudik last December.Nebraska State Patrol confirmed to KETV that they have an active investigation involving Dudik. The state patrol said it is a U.S. Attorney’s case.Sheriff Aaron Hanson started an internal investigation, which determined Dudik committed policy violations, and he was fired earlier this month.Dudik was first hired as a Douglas County deputy in 2023. In July 2025, he was assigned as a school resource officer at Omaha Westview High School. According to the school, he last worked at Westview High in December 2025.”Our top priority is always the safety and well-being of the students we serve. We take our high standards and expectations for staff conduct, including our contracted partners, most seriously,” Westview High School Principal Thomas Lee said in a letter to families. Lee added in the letter that if anyone has any questions, they can call the school at 531-299-3040.Hanson said in his years of service, he had no disciplinary history.Officials said the law enforcement investigation was initially limited to Dudik’s personal, off-duty conduct outside of Douglas County. However, the sheriff’s office said an update to the law enforcement investigation is now looking into Dudik’s on-duty behavior.Officials said they can’t share the specifics of his actions or the investigation at this time.The sheriff’s office said it is working with the investigating agency.
