Free blood pressure hub opens at Omaha Kroc Center
Hub aims to spread awareness about heart health by offering free blood pressure screenings to everyone
OMAHA, Neb. —
The Salvation Army Kroc Center Omaha officially opened its Community Blood Pressure Hub on Thursday through a partnership with the American Heart Association. Funded by a $5,000 grant from the organization, the hub features an automated blood pressure kiosk that allows users to check their blood pressure and pulse in just a few minutes.
The service is available to everyone, not just Kroc Center members. Community members can check in at the front desk during regular business hours and will be escorted to the screening area by a trained staff member if they need assistance using the machine.

After each screening, users receive a printed copy of their blood pressure reading and pulse. The hub also provides educational materials in both English and Spanish about heart health, blood pressure management, and healthy lifestyle changes. Referral information is available for people who do not have a primary healthcare provider.
According to the American Heart Association, nearly half of U.S. adults have high blood pressure, a condition often referred to as the “silent killer” because it typically has no obvious symptoms.
Left untreated, high blood pressure can increase the risk of heart disease and stroke.
Officials with both organizations say the goal is to make preventive healthcare more accessible by giving people a free place to know their numbers and connect with additional resources if follow-up care is needed.
