Herbert Hoover Presidential Library in Iowa set to reopen after renovation
The Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum in West Branch is preparing to reopen after being closed since 2024 for a $20 million renovation.
Museum director Thomas Schwartz said the redesigned exhibits focus on storytelling, tracing the lives and humanitarian work of Herbert and Lou Hoover around the world.

“It’s real easy for people who have a bucket list to go to a museum and say, ‘I’ve done it.’ It’s much harder when people leave for them to still be thinking about what they experienced,” Schwartz said.
The museum now includes hundreds of pictures and built-to-scale recreations of places where Hoover left an impact. The redesign also features new displays designed to accommodate the visually impaired.
