Iowa dog inducted into state’s animal hall of fame in 2001 after saving owner from wild animal
Iowa, USA —
An Iowa woman’s dog named Buddy was inducted into the state’s animal hall of fame after saving his owner from an eland back in 2001.
Betty was going to get her mail down the driveway when from out of some nearby shrubs came a wild eland.

The animal charged full steam at her.
“I yelled ‘Buddy’, and he came from I don’t know where,” Betty said.
Buddy fought the wild animal that had escaped from a nearby exotic animal farm, down the driveway and away from his owner.
“I was worried that he was going to get hurt because he never tackled anything bigger than a squirrel,” she said.
