Judge grants injunction pausing city of Lincoln’s minimum wage ordinance
LINCOLN, Neb. —
A judge granted an injunction to pause an ordinance over minimum wage.
The Lincoln City Council wanted to restore voter-approved minimum wage plans from 2020-22, but state senators passed a law to standardize increases.

“I appreciate the Court’s thoughtful consideration here,” Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers said in a statement Friday. “The injunction stops the City’s unlawful ordinance and its illegal attempt to circumvent the Constitution.”
In June, Hilgers sued the city for the ordinance, and called the plan “unconstitutional.”
Currently, no Nebraska law explicitly prohibits cities from setting their own minimum wage.
The ordinance won’t go into effect until the court’s final ruling.
