Cox customers transitioning to Spectrum following acquisition
Spectrum says former Cox customers can keep their current plans for now, with new options coming in September
OMAHA, Neb. —
Cox Communications customers are beginning a transition to Spectrum following the companies’ acquisition.
Spectrum President and CEO Chris Winfrey says existing Cox customers can keep their current plans, pricing and equipment for now. The company will begin rolling out its own products and pricing across former Cox markets in September.

Spectrum says customers will have access to faster internet speeds and new options when they choose to move to Spectrum’s pricing and packaging.
One new option is mobile service. Cox internet customers will receive one free year of Spectrum Mobile. After the first year, Winfrey says unlimited mobile service will cost $30 per month.
For Cox customers with traditional TV service, Spectrum also plans to include streaming services such as Disney+, Hulu and ESPN as part of their video service at no additional cost.
The transition is also expected to bring new jobs. Spectrum says it is hiring more than 1,000 sales and service employees across former Cox markets. Winfrey estimates about 15% of those positions could be in Nebraska, including residential and small business sales roles.
The Cox name will gradually disappear as Spectrum rolls out its branding and new offerings in former Cox markets beginning in September.
