Woman taken to the hospital following shooting has died, Omaha police say
WASHINGTON, WITH THE NEXT STEPS TO SECURE A FINAL PEACE DEAL. KETV NEWSWATCH SEVEN. STARTS WITH BREAKING NEWS. THAT BREAKING NEWS COMES FROM NORTH OMAHA. TWO PEOPLE CRITICALLY INJURED IN TWO SHOOTINGS EARLIER THIS MORNING. KETV NEWSWATCH SEVEN’S MARY REGLI IS LIVE NEAR 24TH AND OHIO STREETS. WITH WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR THIS MORNING. GOOD MORNING MARY. GOOD MORNING ANNA. YES, THIS IS AN EXTENSIVE SCENE SURROUNDING THIS SHOOTING. YOU CAN SEE BEHIND ME WE ARE AT 24TH AND OHIO. BUT THAT ACTUAL SCENE WHERE THE POLICE BELIEVE THE SHOOTING OCCURRED WAS A LITTLE BIT CLOSER TO 24TH. AND LIZZIE ROBINSON, YOU CAN SEE ALL OF THOSE POLICE CONCENTRATED IN THAT AREA. AND IT EXTENDS YET A BLOCK SOUTH AND ANOTHER BLOCK WEST, ANOTHER BLOCK EAST. IT IS QUITE THE LARGE SCENE THAT POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING AT THIS TIME. OMAHA POLICE SAY JUST BEFORE 330 THIS MORNING, THEY WERE CALLED TO 24TH AND LAKE, WHERE THEY RECEIVED REPORTS OF SEVERAL SHOTS FIRED. WHEN THEY GOT THERE, THEY FOUND A LARGE CROWD OF PEOPLE AND A WOMAN SUFFERING FROM A GUNSHOT WOUND. FIRST RESPONDERS CONFIRMED THEY TOOK THAT WOMAN TO NEBRASKA MEDICINE WITH CPR IN PROGRESS. POLICE TELL ME, BEYOND THIS INITIAL SCENE, CLOSER TO FLORENCE BOULEVARD AND LAKE, THEY FOUND ANOTHER VICTIM WHO MAY ALSO BE CONNECTED TO THIS SAME SHOOTING. WITH HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE HERE AND HOW LARGE THAT SCENE IS. POLICE SAY IT WILL TAKE SOME TIME TO INVESTIGATE EVERYTHING THAT’S GOING ON HERE. AS YOU CAN SEE BEHIND ME, SURROUNDING THIS AREA, LARGE CRIME SCENE. WE HAVE INVESTIGATORS HERE WE’RE TRYING TO PIECE TOGETHER EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED. OBVIOUSLY, WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM THE PUBLIC ON ANY INFORMATION THEY MAY HAVE. AND THERE WERE A LOT OF PEOPLE DOWN HERE. SO WE’RE HOPING SOMEBODY CAN TALK WITH US.
