Tedde Moore, the actress best known for her role as Miss Shields in “A Christmas Story,” has died at 79.

Moore died Wednesday in Huntsville, Ontario, Canada, “surrounded by family,” according to a statement posted to Facebook Thursday.

“Her bravery in this choice was almost overwhelming, beyond beautiful and also difficult. Forever the teacher, she had a quote for every occasion and a special way of touching the lives and hearts of everyone she met,” the social media post reads. “Her magic and love will be remembered by all she took under her generous and welcoming wings.”

Moore’s cause of death has not been released.

Moore is most famously known for portraying Ralphie Parker’s teacher in the 1983 classic “A Christmas Story.”

The actress also had a role in movies “Overnight,” “Second Wind” and “Murder by Decree.” She played Mrs. Shaw in the TV miniseries “The Kennedys.”
