Trump says US helicopter was shot down in Iran strike
In a post on social media on Tuesday, President Donald Trump said that the United States must respond after Iran allegedly shot down an American helicopter overnight near the Strait of Hormuz.
Officials confirm two Army aviators were aboard the Apache attack helicopter when it went down. A U.S. drone boat reportedly rescued the service members, and President Trump confirmed they are safe and uninjured.

Despite the pilots being unharmed, Trump posted on Truth Social, “The United States must, of necessity, respond to this attack.”
This incident is the latest escalation amid a fragile ceasefire, as Israel and Iran traded strikes over the weekend for the first time since the ceasefire deal was reached.
Both sides had previously agreed to stop trading fire, and on Monday night, Trump said a peace deal is two to three days away.
