A missing Florida dog returned home after ending up more than 1,000 miles to the New York City area.

WKMG reports that Apollo, a 13-year-old dog, disappeared from his family’s home in Ocala in April and later turned up at a police station on Long Island.

His owner, Nicholas Josey, flew to New York on Friday to bring Apollo back to Florida.

“I had no doubt the whole time he’ll, he’ll make it back home,” Josey told WKMG. “It’s just mind-blowing that he was all the way in New York.”

Josey added, “So, that’s just — like he went to New York, he went to New York before any of us.:

Josey said the family does not know how Apollo ended up in New York. They plan to celebrate Apollo’s 14th birthday in August.
