FALLEN TROOPER KEVIN TRAINOR’S FIANCE JESSICA, IS SEEN HERE THIS MORNING IN A GRAY SWEATSHIRT, LEAVING FLOWERS ON HIS MEMORIAL CRUISER, WHICH IS PARKED IN FRONT OF THE DANVERS BARRACKS. SHE’S ALSO TAKING A MOMENT TO REFLECT ON THE DOZENS OF BOUQUETS OTHER PEOPLE HAVE LEFT, A SIGN OF COMMUNITY SUPPORT. THIS IS CLEARLY A VERY EMOTIONAL MOMENT ALL DAY. OTHER PEOPLE, MANY WHO DID NOT KNOW TROOPER TRAINOR PERSONALLY, HAVE BEEN COMING BY TO BRING FLOWERS AND OFFER PRAYERS. HE’S SO YOUNG, HE’S GONE TOO SOON TO PROTECT US. YOU KNOW, I COULD BE ME GOING THROUGH THAT TRACK AND DEAD. ALSO TODAY WE’RE SEEING THIS SURVEILLANCE VIDEO FOR THE FIRST TIME SHOWING THE JEEP DRIVEN BY A MAN IDENTIFIED BY POLICE AS HERMAN MARRERO, SHORTLY BEFORE THE DEADLY COLLISION. HIS JEEP IS HEADING SOUTH IN A NORTHBOUND LANE ON ROUTE ONE NEAR THE SAUGUS LYNNFIELD LINE. Video shows wrong-way vehicle seconds before crash that killed Massachusetts state trooper
Surveillance footage from a Massachusetts car dealership shows a wrong-way vehicle speeding past seconds before a crash that killed the driver and a young Massachusetts State Police trooper. Video shows the wrong-way vehicle passing the dealership. It appears to be speeding faster than the cars going the right way on the other side of the median.Trooper Kevin Trainor, 30, was traveling home from work when he heard reports about the wrong-way driver. While Trainor was on his way to investigate the incident, his cruiser was struck just after 2 a.m. by a Jeep that was traveling south in a northbound lane, state police said.The timestamp on the video says 1:02:50 a.m., but the dealership said the discrepancy is due to Daylight Saving Time. Trainor was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, where he was later pronounced dead. The wrong-way driver was identified as Hernan Marrero, 50, of Roslindale, the Essex County District Attorney’s Office announced.”Make no mistake, Trooper Trainor, today, saved lives this morning. His courage, his commitment to serve the citizens of the Commonwealth, and even be willing to put his life on the line, which he did today, prevented an even greater tragedy, for I am confident that had this tragedy not occurred, there would have been countless other tragedies down the road.
