IT’S FOR THE DOG POUND SHOWDOWN. THE TEAMS ARE BASED OUT OF FIVE DIFFERENT STATES, INCLUDING NEBRASKA. THE SHOWDOWN IS THE ONLY LOCAL TOURNAMENT DURING THE NEBRASKA RED DOGS CURRENT SEASON. THE RED DOGS HAS PLAYERS FROM OMAHA, LINCOLN, EVEN DES MOINES IN MINNESOTA. THE REGIONAL TOURNAMENT ALLOWS THE ATHLETES TO COMPETE AND SHOW OFF THEIR SKILLS. Seven National Wheelchair Basketball Association teams competed at Papillion La Vista South High School in the Dawg Pound Showdown, featuring teams from five states, including Nebraska. The showdown is the only local tournament during the Nebraska Red Dawgs’ current season, with players hailing from Omaha, Lincoln, Des Moines, and Minnesota.The regional tournament allows athletes to compete and showcase their skills. “Wheelchair basketball is wheelchair basketball, right? You don’t have use of your legs, your arms. You’re running, you’re shooting. You’re a little tired. It’s too bad. You have to keep pushing.
