Women account for 77% of payroll job gains since January 2025
Women have secured more than three out of every four payroll jobs added since January 2025, driven by hiring in industries where they dominate the workforce.
Since January 2025, employers have added more than 730,000 payroll jobs, with women accounting for about 77% of those gains, according to federal payroll data.
Economists say this trend is tied to strong hiring in industries where women make up a large share of the workforce, including health care, education, hospitality and government.

The latest jobs report showed the trend continuing, with employers adding 172,000 jobs in May — about double what economists expected.
Women once again secured most of those positions.
