For the first time in six years, the World Ice Cream Series is back.Anticipation has been building and eCreamery co-founder Becky App said her customers are eager to get their hands on this year’s treats.”When we’ve told them this year that we’re finally back, people are like, ‘Oh, we cannot wait to get there,'” App said. “They say, ‘Save it for us,’ and we’re like, ‘We can’t, we can’t. You have to come here while your team is still active and involved.'”Every team in the College World Series gets their own special sundae and every time someone orders it, they get a point.”You need to hurry because once your team’s out of the baseball series, you’re also out of the ice cream series,” App said.Returning teams means favorite flavors are back, but first appearances from Troy and West Virginia are bringing in something new.”We just look into what they’re all about like where they’re from, what their fan base is like, how their record is. You know, a rocky road is a good lead in for things like that,” App said. “We have the Troy Trojan Batter Battle and that’s a brownie ice cream with fudge and brownie bites and fudge swirls.”Proceeds from the ice cream go right back into Omaha. Two nonprofits will benefit from the series — Epic for Girls and Police Athletics for Community Engagement.”That’s another way to just keep the connectivity and great things that team sports bring to our community,” App said.At the end of opening day, the Troy Trojans and West Virginia Mountaineers are tied at three apiece. After losses on Friday, the fate of Troy and Ole Miss’s flavors are now on the line.
