Almost two years after a California mother was killed and her two children disappeared, the man wanted in connection with her death is in custody, officials said.Camron Lee, 40, was arrested in connection with the 2024 death of 28-year-old Angelica Bravo, Sacramento County District Attorney Thien Ho said during a Tuesday news conference. Lee faces a murder charge and three assault weapon charges.”Today, we are relieved to say that our mission is complete,” said Eugene Wu, acting FBI special agent for the Sacramento field office. Bravo was found dead in her home on Didcot Circle around 7:30 p.m. on July 8, 2024, and her children, Mateo and Athena, were not present when officers arrived.Investigators have previously stated that they believe Lee took his children with him to Mexico, where he is also known by the names Saroeunchea, Tae Won Lee and Major. Wu said investigators received a tip about two weeks ago and worked with law enforcement partners in Mexico to arrest Lee on Sunday in the Primo Tapia community of Baja California.Sacramento Police Chief Zachary Bales believes that Lee fled to Mexico to avoid being prosecuted in connection with Bravo’s death. Officers who took Lee into custody also found the children and reunited them with their maternal grandmother. Mateo is now 4 years old, and Athena, 5. Officials said both children are in good health.”This was a long and complex case that required countless hours of follow-up, coordination and collaboration,” Bales said. “Violence will not be tolerated in our community.”Wu said the FBI partnered with Sacramento police to obtain a federal warrant and launch a bilingual campaign to find Lee and the children. He greatly attributed the tip to leading to Lee’s arrest.“It is a powerful reminder that no matter how much time passes, no matter where you flee to, our pursuit of justice never ends,” Ho said.Ho said he will be extradited from a San Diego jail, where he was taken into custody. He expects Lee’s court arraignment in Sacramento County to be on Thursday at the earliest, Friday at the latest. Prior to his arrest, he was seen driving a Honda Passport that crossed into Mexico, and police later found that vehicle, unoccupied, in Ensenada, Mexico. In 2025, the FBI announced $50,000 in rewards for the return of the two children and information leading to the location of Lee. San Diego jail records show that Lee is in custody on a federal hold and not eligible for release on a first-degree murder charge. Lee was booked at 1:22 a.m. Tuesday by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
