MidAmerican Energy considers natural gas rate hike proposal

DES MOINES, Iowa —

MidAmerican Energy could raise natural gas delivery rates, and customers could see an impact on their bills.

The company said that customers’ monthly bill would likely go up about five percent to around $2.89.

The funds will go toward replacing and inspecting gas lines before problems happen, and they’ll also help manage higher labor, material, and contractor costs.

However, the increase still needs to be approved by the Iowa Utility Commission.

Officials will take public comment on these proposals during their meetings in September.
