Construction changes for the College World Series

Omaha Public Works says the city typically pauses road construction during the College World Series, but with projects like the streetcar underway, that was not an option this year.

Austin Rowser, assistant director of Omaha Public Works, said construction will scale back instead.

“The bridge over I-480 on Farnam will still be closed. We’ll have most everything else open with the restrictions,” Rowser said.

Streets like Farnam and Harney, along with the 10th & Capitol intersection, will be open.

Rowser said construction is more saturated this year than it was in 2025. He also said that while construction is scaling back over the next two weeks, it will not affect the long-term schedule for the streetcar.

The streetcar is scheduled to be in service by 2028.
