It’s nice to like meet other people and just like see how other people do on theirs. Because sensor’s like older kids or they might be like better at rockets cause they might be in it more, they were in it longer than us, but it’s still nice to meet new people from around the country. What’s your favorite part about this competition? Definitely launching their rockets. It’s very fun putting them on the rail and watching them go and watching them go high in the sky.

For the second year in a row, Nebraska’s Fillmore County STEAM Punks rocketry team competed amongst the nation’s best in the nation’s capital in the American Rocketry Challenge “Rockets on the Hill.”Besting over a thousand teams, only the nation’s top 100 teams can compete in the national finals. The ragtag team is composed of Nebraskans, aged 12 through 18, from Omaha, Geneva and Bruning. All of them flew to Washington, D.C., to compete on Friday, May 15.Before the competition, the team sat down with KETV NewsWatch 7’s Quanecia Fraser to highlight why they compete and their favorite parts about it.
