The video, released by the Clive Police Department, shows a 32-year-old man running a red light on an e-scooter. Moments later, he was struck by a vehicle, police said.
The incident happened Sunday morning in Clive, where the man narrowly avoided being hit by a car after running a red light. Police said the man was illegally operating the e-scooter in the street.
“It’s not just a kid running a red light. It’s a 32-year-old person that you would think would know better, out violating traffic laws that he is required to follow, and just wasn’t doing that, was riding recklessly,” Clive Police Chief Mark Rehberg said. “What that video doesn’t show is the next intersection up at Alice, where he was actually struck by a car because he was running a red light there as well.”
The man suffered several broken bones in the collision, according to officials.
