After MVP performance at Elite 11 camp, Trae Taylor reaffirms commitment to Huskers
OMAHA, Neb. —
Nebraska quarterback commit Trae Taylor continues to gain national attention ahead of his senior season at Millard South.
Taylor, a member of the 2027 recruiting class, was named Rivals MVP at the Elite 11 Finals, one of the nation’s premier quarterback showcases featuring many of the top high school signal callers in the country.

“The best 20 quarterbacks were there that weekend,” Taylor said. “So for them to say I was the best out of all of them was really a blessing. It was a three day span, so for me, able to keep up that type of energy and intenseness for three days was really cool to see too.”
After his standout performance on the national stage, Taylor has returned to Omaha and begun summer workouts with Millard South.
“We have a lot of new guys coming out here and playing, so we’re all learning on the fly,” Taylor said.
Taylor transferred from Carmel Catholic High School near Chicago to Millard South ahead of his senior season. He said the move was motivated in part by a desire to be closer to the Nebraska football program and continue his development before arriving in Lincoln.
“I want people to say like, okay, we feel like he’s college ready,” Taylor said. “That’s why I’m here. I feel like the coaches have already started giving me great implements to be able to say that for next year.”
As Taylor’s profile continues to rise nationally, so does interest from other college programs. However, Taylor said his commitment to Nebraska remains firm.
“I’m committed to Nebraska,” Taylor said. “My biggest thing I would say Nebraska got to give me a reason not want to be committed.”
Before he eventually arrives in Lincoln, Taylor said his focus remains on helping Millard South to another state championship.
“For me the biggest thing is I just come in and dominate as a team and just, you know, be the best version of me I can be,” Taylor said.
